This all-day watercolor workshop is geared for both beginning and intermediate students. Basic drawing is suggested. We will use urban scenes and architectural subjects as our reference. Using photos, we will prepare small thumbnail sketches to look at value and composition options. We will discuss interpreting color and deviating from reality to make a statement that is our own, developing small color studies as
a warm up to the finished piece.
From these value, composition and color studies, we will develop a final painting either in the sketchbook or on a half-size sheet of watercolor paper. There will be a demonstration of each phase with time afterward for you to implement the discussion points on your painting. After each demonstration there will be time for one-on-one assistance, and we will conclude the workshop with an informal class critique.
Please bring your own materials and be prepared to work in class. You can bring the materials you usually use.Inquire about my preferred materials list.
