DAY ONE: Exploring Pop Art!
Tuesday, we will talk about some famous artists such as Andy Warhol, Wayne Thiebaud,and Roy Lichtenstein. Students will create their own pop art painting (shoes, favorite foods etc).
DAY TWO: Create a Collage!
Tuesday, students draw out a subject of their choice, a landscape or still life. Paint different papers and use them to collage. Students complete work by adding paint,pastels and or black ink.
DAY THREE: Delve into Color!
Tuesday, we will discuss primary, secondary, analogous colors from the color wheel. Some key words will be about color characteristics: hue, value, intensity and temperature. Students will create a realistic subject and apply color combinations?
DAY FOUR: Picasso Portraits!
Saturday, we will talk about Pablo Picasso and look at some of his paintings. Some key words we will discuss are cubism, realistic and abstract. Students will create their own portraits in the style of Picasso.
Shelly Chess is visiting from Tucson Arizona where she teaches at The Tucson Museum of Art. Her childhood experiences have
highlighted how important it is to expose children and young adults to the visual arts. Students become engaged and explore many
art skills, allowing their confidence to grow as they explore their creativity.
